Internet Safety Project in conjunction with the WHAM project.
Our aim of our internet safety project:
To promote internet safety around youngsters, and parents so that they can teach their children about the dangers on the internet. Also, to prevent as many youngsters as possible to stay safe online.

Our Progress so far:
At the start of the project we were interested to research certain details on internet safety, such as ‘has anyone ever met up with anyone off the internet’, by taking a survey at our school. We received shocking results and decided that we drastically needed to change young people’s views on the internet; that it isn’t such a safe place as people think.
We then produced a 30 minute presentation, including a game show, a short speech, a role play, a song and dance and a questions and answers session, where the students can ask questions if they have any queries. In total we have visited 7 Primary schools in Norfolk.
We have also fundraised to send our DVD to every Primary school in Norfolk. We held 2 cake stalls to help fundraise for 2000 pens and 1000 stickers. Every child, whom we have visited, has received one of our pens, promoting internet safety. We have fundraised over £300 altogether, which we are extremely happy with!
We then went on Radio Broadland and Nancy Cole interviewed us about our project. We then got a notice from Norfolk County Council saying how dangerous Bebo.com was, so we decided to act, and we sent, every Dereham Neatherd High school student, home with a letter warning them about Bebo.com and an internet safety advice sheet. We then appeared on Look East, Anglia TV, radio Norfolk and in The EDP.
We have also appeared in the Dereham and Fakenham times various times, and we did an article about our project for Air Cadets, which has been put on various websites and local newspapers. We have made 2 displays at school, including internet safety tips and photos.
We have also had a stall at the forum, where we have promoted internet safety and children could play our game show on the laptop. We are hoping to re-visit the primary schools next year after our exams!
